Taxes & Benefits
God they seriously should teach a high school student how to file taxes and all the jargon in finance. Attempted to calculate whether it was going to be more beneficial for my parents to claim me as dependent or independent and things just get more and more complicated. This may have inspired me to add a finance certificate into my damned education and to knock out some core requirements for my major. Why not when you're paying several thousand a year so that you can get a bachelors that calls for a masters and doctorate to be sucessful and maybe break into the upper middle class. That honestly does not sound like a bad idea to know how the ******** this government is screwing everyone by looking how the money and calculations work.

Talking about governmental benefits, the United States honestly is quite selfish and doesn't put their money to good use. Almost every other country provides amazing health care, working, and other benefits. i.e. In Canada if you're the mother, you have a year of paid leave if you're pregnant. Fathers also get a time off of work to help with the family. In the United States, you get 2 weeks.

In sociology we were talking about systematic power circulations and brought up the topic of the conflict theory and how our CEOs and executives enjoy extorting every single dollar out of their employees. For example this graph showing how much money is spent on leaves and absences and sick days in the United States and other developed countries:
(If you are to look on wikipedia, other 'undeveloped countries' even have more holidays and paid leaves than the US.)

Yup. Take a deep breath of 'freedom', citizens of the United States. And this is only one of the things that get me rollin'.. There's still the talk of media, mass incarceration, war on drugs, #blacklivesmatters, #NoDAPL, feminism and rape laws, and ridiculous LGBTQ laws, the 1st ammendment vs. the 13th ammendment, cycle of class structures, etc etc.

Honestly, I'm too shook right now studying for my anatomy and physics midterms and finals to provide a proper argument. But the graph shows a lot. Look at it and oggle at the power struggle in the United States. I try to be like my sociology professor and think, "Don't expect the same moral compass onto other people" but seriously, the 'independent' nature of the United States and the neo libertarian structure and ideas is really ******** us all over.
